This makes me want to watch the movie again. It’s so sweet, funny and sad all at the same time. I remember watching it in college, and just thinking about how terrible it was for those poor girls. I watched it again maybe 6 months ago, and I felt sad on a much higher level. Societal influence, personal failures, micommunication, isolation … there are so many issues in this movie that jetison it into an absolutely tragic ending. All to a groovy soundtrack.

Today, on the Interwebz

As a bit of a impetus to get more words on here, I’m going to highlight some things that the Internet —long may it live, long may it shit on the heads of the damned — has bestowed upon us today that I find particularly captivating.

Mondo is showcasing their Game of Thrones exhibition at SXSW, and the prints are gorgeous. You can find a couple here, but I’d suggest you search the twitterverse for others, the best ones I’ve see are crusader photog pics from people at the exhibit. I particularly want this one of Dani.

Shark SWARM! Seriously though, they shut down beaches in Florida during spring break week because there were something like 15,000 hungry, irate, and twitterpated sharks taking over the surf. This beautifully supports any and all crappy horror flicks that include wanton spring break shenanigans and end with annoying co-eds getting eaten. But the thing that makes me noodle is … if this is a normal migration thing, why during spring break? I doubt it was the cold waters that spurred these massive and majestic killing machines into migration and think the promise of a hot meal would be far more likely a plot turn. Regardless, yeah, sharks!

It’s International Women’s Day. And I could care less. Let’s recognize women every day. And men for that matter. Don’t be nice to me only today just because I have lady parts. You don’t KNOW ME, Internet. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Highlighting differences only serves to further mythologize and alienate. (Also, God, I love being a turtle.)

I realize I’ve taken my tumblr for granted. For the last year or so, I’ve been using it as an auxiliary place for snippets of poetry, and music. This is not a terrible use of tumblr at all.

However, I do very much miss when it was my personal expression for longer than 140 characters thoughts or the facebook status updates that carry the annoying elipsis coupled with a “more” that you know your friends never read because you roll your eyes and avoid them, too.

I feel very much on the precipice of something larger, a decision, or a complete unknown, and it’s exciting and overwhelming all at the same time. I’ve been writing a lot more lately, and while it’s very dark and cryptic short story format, I’m quite enjoying getting back into a craft that I’ve so efficiently pushed aside in the favor of writing compelling copy, press releases, newsletters, or social media updates.

The working title of this project I’m currently slaving over is Ten Terrible Mornings. As it progresses I’ll share snippets and other extremely twisted machinations from the brain that is Carol.

On of my favorite Ice Cube songs of all time. I like to know where I stand with a man, and Cube doesn’t stutter.
